Comment: Could this be the first nativity scene depicted in Art?

The “Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore” in Rome could possibly be the site for the first nativity scene represented in art. Amongst the detailed and astonishingly intricate mosaics that decorate the triumphal arch, I have selected the few that caught my attention.

My Inspiration : The Nativity Scene is at the centre of all Catholic Christmas traditions. Keeping with the mood of the festival and waiting the arrival of Baby Jesus, I looked at my travel diaries and found the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, in Roma, Italy. It was perfection!
